Key Features:
GN15 Bogie Plate Wagon: This high-quality kit provides you with all the components necessary to build your own GN15 bogie plate wagon. The wagon is designed specifically for narrow gauge model railways, adding a touch of authenticity and uniqueness to your layout. The wagon features a sturdy construction, allowing it to handle the demands of your miniature railroad.

Pair of Bogies: The kit includes a pair of finely detailed bogies, providing excellent stability and smooth operation for your GN15 wagon. These bogies are designed to fit perfectly with the wagon, ensuring a seamless integration and allowing for realistic movement on your layout.

NEM Pocket System: We understand the importance of versatility and compatibility in the world of model railways. That's why this kit includes the NEM pocket system, which allows you to easily attach and detach compatible accessories, such as couplings or additional wagons, enhancing the functionality and expandability of your layout. Use these as alternative to the default bogie couplings. It comes with a pair of standard Pin and chain buffer blocks, but you can switch these out for Hornby style couplers, Hunt magnetic or Kadee couplers (not supplied)

Easy Assembly: The kit is designed with modelers of all skill levels in mind, the bogies are a push fit and can be glued into position if required.

Specifications:
Scale: GN15 (1:22.5 scale narrow gauge)
Dimensions: 113mm x36mm
Compatibility: NEM 362 pocket system compatible

Your order will come with the following great pieces :
One plate wagon
Two NEM 362 pockets
A set of bogies
two buffer blocks

Note: Please ensure compatibility with your existing layout and equipment before purchasing. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need further assistance. Happy modeling!

This listing is for five resin printed pieces in grey and a pair of  bogies, painted pictures and alternate couplings are for information purposes only and are not supplied.

Finishing: All items are cleaned and cured by hand. They are unassembled (if needed). Ready for you to prime and paint.

We do our very best to remove support marks but some fine sanding may be required.

All pieces and parts come unprimed and unpainted with all supports removed.

Please do bear in mind that resin can be quite delicate so try to avoid dropping your parts! Sadly, we can't be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived.

FAQ – Product FAQs

What exactly do I get in this GN15 Bogie Plate Wagon kit?

You receive five grey resin-printed pieces and a pair of bogies. The parts supplied are: one plate wagon body, a set of bogies (with wheels), two NEM 362 pockets and two pin-and-chain buffer blocks. All pieces come unassembled (where applicable), unprimed and unpainted, with all supports removed. Any painted models or alternate couplings shown in photos are for illustration only and are not included.

What scale and size is the wagon?

The wagon is GN15 scale (1:22.5 narrow gauge) designed to run on 00 track. The approximate body dimensions are 113 mm long by 36 mm wide, making it a compact but substantial wagon for small industrial or estate-style layouts.

Which coupling systems is this kit compatible with?

The wagon is supplied with the NEM 362 pocket system and a pair of standard pin-and-chain buffer blocks. The NEM pockets allow you to fit compatible couplers such as Hornby-style tension locks, Hunt magnetic couplers or Kadee couplers (these couplers are not supplied with the kit). You can use the included pin-and-chain blocks or swap them out for your preferred NEM-compatible couplings.

Is this kit suitable for beginners to GN15 or resin kits?

Yes. The kit has been designed with all skill levels in mind. The bogies are a push fit and can be glued if you prefer a permanent fit. The parts come cleaned and cured, so you can go straight to a light tidy-up, then priming and painting. Some experience with handling small, delicate parts is helpful, but you do not need to be an expert kit builder.

Is the wagon ready to run straight out of the box?

No. This is a kit of unpainted, unassembled resin parts plus bogies. You will need to assemble the wagon, fit the bogies and couplers, and then prime and paint it to your taste before running it on your layout.

Is this wagon compatible with my existing layout?

The wagon is designed for GN15 (1:22.5) running on 00 gauge track and uses NEM 362 pockets. It will suit layouts built to GN15 standards or similar narrow-gauge themes that use 00 track. Please check your loading gauge, minimum radius and coupling type to ensure it fits your particular layout before purchasing.

The bogies feel tight or don’t rotate freely. What should I do?

First, check that there is no stray resin, flash or paint in the bogie mounting points or around the pivot. A very light clean-up with a fine file or abrasive stick usually frees them up. Make sure you do not overtighten any screws or glue; the bogies are designed as a push fit and can be glued only once you are happy with their movement. They should be free to swivel for smooth running.

The wagon doesn’t roll smoothly on my track. How can I improve running?

Check that the bogies are seated squarely and not twisted, and that all wheels sit on the rail. Ensure the track is clean and level. Inspect the wheelsets for any debris or paint on the treads or flanges. If needed, gently clean the wheel treads and check back-to-back measurements against your usual GN15/00 standards to ensure they match the rest of your stock.

The couplers in the NEM pockets are loose or droop. Any tips?

Because NEM pockets are designed for a range of couplers, some brands may fit more snugly than others. If a coupler feels loose, you can:

  • Use a tiny sliver of plastic shim or tape in the pocket to tighten the fit.
  • Apply a very small amount of non-permanent adhesive (such as a tiny dab of PVA) to hold it in place while still allowing removal later.

Avoid flooding the pocket with glue, as that can make future changes difficult.

I can see faint support marks or print lines on the resin. Is this normal?

Yes. All items are cleaned and cured by hand, and we do our best to remove support marks. However, some fine sanding is usually required before painting. This is normal for resin-printed kits and is easily dealt with using fine abrasive papers or sanding sticks.

What if a part arrives damaged in the post?

If you believe a part has arrived damaged, please contact us as soon as possible with clear photos of the issue and the packaging. We’ll work with you to put things right. Once the model has arrived safely, we unfortunately can’t be responsible for damage caused by dropping or mishandling, as resin is naturally quite delicate.

How do I assemble the wagon body and bogies?

Dry-fit everything first so you can see how it goes together. The wagon body takes the bogies as a push fit into the mounting points underneath. When you are happy with the ride height and bogie swing, you can secure them with a small amount of suitable glue if you want a permanent fix. Fit the NEM 362 pockets and buffer blocks into their locating points, again testing the fit before gluing.

What glue should I use on the resin parts?

Most modellers use either cyanoacrylate (superglue) or a good-quality two-part epoxy for resin. Apply sparingly, especially around moving parts like bogie pivots and coupler pockets. Avoid solvent glues designed for polystyrene, as they generally do not work on cured resin.

How should I prepare the wagon for painting?

After any final sanding, gently wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of mild detergent to remove dust and handling oils. Rinse well and let them dry completely. Then apply a suitable primer for resin before your chosen top coats. Priming helps paint adhere better and reveals any areas that might need a little extra sanding.

What type of paints and primers work best on this resin?

Use primers and paints that are suitable for resin and plastic miniatures. Many modellers have good results with:

  • Acrylic or enamel primers in aerosol or airbrush form.
  • Acrylic model paints for the colour coats.

Always apply several light coats rather than one heavy coat to avoid obscuring detail.

Any tips for finishing and weathering the wagon for a realistic look?

Once primed and base-coated, you can add character with simple techniques such as:

  • Dry-brushing lighter shades to pick out edges and texture.
  • Washes in darker tones to bring out plank lines and rivet detail.
  • Powders or pastels to simulate dirt, rust and track grime.

Because this is a plate wagon, a slightly battered, work-worn finish suits it very well on industrial or quarry-style layouts.
