FAQ – Product FAQs

What scale is this figure, and what size is it?

This figure is G-Scale 1:22.5 and is approximately 77 mm tall. It is suitable for use with popular G-Scale brands such as LGB and Bachmann.

Is the figure supplied painted or unpainted?

The figure is supplied unpainted so you can finish it in the colours and style that best match your own railway and stock.

What is the figure intended to represent on my layout?

This figure works well as a driver’s mate or as a railway worker standing around in the yard, adding realistic human interest to your G-Scale scenes.

How are these figures created?

The figures are 3D scanned from real people to capture realistic proportions, clothing folds, and natural poses, and then printed in high detail resin here in the UK.

Is the packaging environmentally friendly?

Yes. The exterior packaging is made in part from recycled materials and is fully recyclable. The interior packing materials are acid free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.

Are these figures suitable for children?

No. These items are not toys and are not suitable for minors, as small parts can pose a choking hazard. They are intended for adult hobbyists and collectors.

What should I do if my figure arrives broken in the post?

If your figure is damaged during delivery, please take clear photos of the item and the packaging, then contact us with the images. We will review the situation and see what we can do to help put things right.

What if I accidentally break the figure after it arrives?

Resin can be quite delicate, so please handle the figure carefully and avoid dropping it. We cannot be held responsible for breakages once the item has arrived safely, but you are welcome to get in touch for general advice on repairing resin parts.

My figure has small marks or a slight texture. Is this normal?

All items are cleaned and cured by hand, and some very minor surface artefacts can occur with high detail resin printing. A light tidy-up before priming is normal for this type of model.

The figure does not seem to stand perfectly on my layout. What can I do?

Base surfaces and trackbeds can vary. You may wish to lightly sand the underside of the figure’s feet or attach it to a small base that matches your ground level. A tiny amount of adhesive can also help keep the figure stable in position.

The resin looks slightly glossy or slick. Will paint stick to it?

Once properly cleaned and primed, paint adheres very well. If the surface looks glossy, a gentle wash in mild soapy water, followed by thorough drying and priming, will give you a good painting surface.

What primer should I use on this figure?

The model can be primed with Halfords grey primer or Tamiya Fine Surface Primer. Both give a smooth, even base coat that works well with typical hobby paints.

Do I need to clean the figure before priming?

All figures are cleaned and cured by hand, but many modellers like to give resin parts a quick wash in lukewarm water with a drop of mild washing-up liquid, then rinse and allow to dry completely before priming.

How should I prepare the figure before painting?

Inspect the figure under good light and, if needed, gently remove any small print marks or support nubs with a fine file or sharp hobby knife. After that, wash (if desired), let it dry, and apply a thin, even coat of primer.

What type of paints work best on this resin figure?

Once primed with a suitable primer such as Halfords grey or Tamiya Fine Surface Primer, most model paints will work well, including common acrylics and enamels used by railway and scale modellers.

Any tips for painting realistic clothing and details?

Because the figure is 3D scanned from a real person, the folds and details take washes and dry-brushing nicely. Many modellers find it helpful to:

  • Block in base colours first (overalls, skin, boots, etc.).
  • Add a thin wash to bring out folds and creases.
  • Finish with gentle highlights on raised areas for depth.

Can I convert or modify the figure?

Yes, light conversion work is possible with care. The resin is detailed but delicate, so if you plan to reposition arms or add accessories, use sharp tools, work slowly, and avoid putting stress on thin areas.

How should I attach the figure to my layout or rolling stock?

A small dab of suitable adhesive on the feet is usually enough to hold the figure in place. Many modellers prefer a removable bond (such as a tiny spot of tacky adhesive) if they plan to move the figure between scenes.
