Product details

Here is a Great Wars memorial for the layout, suitable for the town square or near the church, just needs painting to finish off.
The piece is around 50mm tall.

We print our own models here in the UK using high detail resin. The sale is for the memorial shown and it is unpainted , the photographer figure is shown only for scale purposes.

Finishing: All items are cleaned and cured by hand. They are unassembled (if needed). Ready for you to prime and paint. We do our very best to remove support marks but some fine sanding may be required. All pieces and parts come unprimed and unpainted with all supports removed. Please do bear in mind that resin can be quite delicate so try to avoid dropping your parts! Sadly, we can't be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived. However, if the piece is broken in the post, please provide images and we will of course see what we can do to help.

FAQ – Product FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is this Great Wars memorial model?

This is a high-detail resin model of a Great Wars memorial, designed for use on a model railway or diorama layout. It’s ideal for a town square scene or positioned near a church, and comes unpainted so you can finish it to suit your layout.

How tall is the memorial, and what scale is it?

The memorial is around 50mm tall. It is intended as a scenic piece for typical model railway layouts; please check the height against figures and buildings on your layout to ensure it suits your chosen scale.

What exactly do I receive with my order?

You receive one unpainted Great Wars memorial model as shown in the product photos. Any figures or other items (such as the photographer figure) are included only for scale reference and are not part of the sale.

What material is the model made from?

The memorial is printed in high detail resin. All models are printed, cleaned, and cured by hand here in the UK.

Is the model ready to use straight out of the box?

The model is ready for you to prime and paint. It is supplied unpainted and may be unassembled if needed, but all supports are removed and basic cleanup is done before shipping.

Is this suitable for beginners to model painting?

Yes. The memorial is a single scenic piece with clear surfaces that are straightforward to paint. It’s a good project for beginners to practice priming, basecoats, and gentle weathering.

My memorial arrived broken in the post, what should I do?

If the piece has been damaged in transit, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging as soon as you notice it. Contact us with these images and we will see what we can do to help.

What if I accidentally break the model after it arrives?

Resin can be quite delicate, so please handle the memorial carefully and avoid dropping it. We unfortunately can’t be held responsible for breakages once the item has arrived safely, but simple breaks can often be repaired with suitable model glue.

There are faint lines or marks on the surface. Is this normal?

We do our very best to remove support marks and clean each piece by hand. Very fine marks or lines can occasionally remain and are normal for resin prints. These can usually be smoothed with light sanding before priming.

The model seems slightly warped or uneven. How can I fix it?

Mild resin distortion can sometimes be corrected by very gently warming the affected area in warm (not boiling) water and carefully easing it back into shape, then allowing it to cool. Always test cautiously and avoid excessive heat to prevent damage.

The primer or paint is not sticking well. What should I check?

If paint is beading or not adhering, the surface may need a final clean. Gently wash the model in warm water with a drop of mild detergent, rinse thoroughly, let it dry completely, and then apply a suitable primer before painting.

Some details look slightly soft after priming. Why is that?

Heavy or repeated coats of primer can obscure fine detail. Use light, misted coats of primer, allowing each to dry before the next, to preserve the sharpness of the memorial’s features.

Does the memorial come in separate parts or as one piece?

The memorial may be supplied unassembled if needed, but all parts are prepared with supports removed. Any separate parts are intended to be straightforward to fit together before painting.

Do I need to remove any supports or sprues myself?

No. All supports are removed by us during finishing. You may find tiny nubs or marks where supports were attached; these can be smoothed with fine sanding sticks or small files.

How should I prepare the model before priming?

We clean and cure each piece by hand, but for best results you can:

  • Inspect the model for any remaining support marks and lightly sand them.
  • Gently wash the model in warm, soapy water and rinse.
  • Allow it to dry fully before applying primer.

What type of primer works best on this resin?

Use a primer that is suitable for resin miniatures and models. Light, even coats will help the primer key to the surface and preserve the crisp detail of the memorial.

Any tips for painting a convincing stone war memorial?

Many modellers like to use layered greys or stone tones, followed by a subtle wash to pick out the recesses and a light drybrush on raised edges. This helps bring out the carved detail and gives a realistic stone effect.

Can I weather or age the memorial to match my layout?

Yes. After your main colours are dry, you can add gentle weathering using washes, drybrushing, or weathering powders to suggest age, soot, or moss staining, so it blends naturally into your town square or churchyard scene.
