FAQ – Product FAQs

General Product FAQs

What exactly do I receive with this wagon kit?

Your order includes four grey resin-printed pieces: one bogie frame, two coupling blocks, and one single blank wagon body. There is also the option to add two sets of 12.5 mm diameter wheels (two wheelsets) if you select that when ordering.

Are the parts assembled when they arrive?

No, all parts are supplied unassembled. The bogie frame, coupling blocks, wagon body, and optional wheelsets come as separate components so you can build the wagon yourself.

Are the parts already primed or painted?

No, all pieces and parts come unprimed and unpainted. They are cleaned, cured, and have their supports removed, ready for you to prime and paint in your own livery.

What material are the parts made from?

The parts are resin printed in grey. Resin allows for fine detail but should be handled with care as it can be delicate.

Do the wheels come as standard with the kit?

The wheels are optional. The listing allows you to choose whether or not to include two sets of 12.5 mm diameter wheels with your order.

Are the parts ready to run on my layout straight away?

They are ready for you to assemble, prime, and paint, but not ready-to-run out of the box. Some light finishing work (such as fine sanding of any remaining marks) and assembly will be needed before you can use the wagon on your layout.

Troubleshooting FAQs

My wagon arrived with a broken part, what should I do?

If the piece appears to have been broken in the post, please take clear photos of the damage and contact the seller. They will review the images and see what can be done to help. Breakages after safe delivery, such as from dropping the model, cannot be covered.

I can see faint support marks on the surface, is this normal?

Yes, while every effort is made to remove support marks during cleaning and curing, some very fine marks may remain. These are normal for resin prints and can usually be smoothed with gentle sanding.

The resin feels delicate. How should I handle it?

Resin can be quite delicate, so handle each piece carefully and avoid dropping or bending thin sections. Work over a soft surface if possible and store parts in a safe container while you build and paint.

There are small rough spots after I sanded the supports, how can I fix this?

Use a fine-grit sanding stick or paper and work slowly, checking your progress often. After sanding, a light coat of primer will usually reveal any remaining roughness so you can refine it further before painting.

The parts don’t seem to fit together perfectly, what can I do?

Dry-fit all parts before gluing. If you find a tight spot, carefully remove a small amount of material with fine sanding or a small file until the fit improves. Take your time; removing a little at a time is better than over-sanding.

Assembly & Painting FAQs

How should I prepare the parts before assembly?

Although the parts are already cleaned and cured, it is good practice to:

  • Inspect each piece for any remaining support marks.
  • Gently sand any visible marks or small nubs.
  • Dry-fit the bogie frame, coupling blocks, wagon body, and optional wheelsets before gluing.
This helps ensure everything aligns nicely before you commit to adhesive.

What is the recommended order of assembly?

A simple approach is:

  • Dry-fit all parts to understand how they go together.
  • Attach the coupling blocks to the wagon or bogie frame as required by your chosen setup.
  • Fit the bogie frame to the wagon body.
  • Add the optional wheelsets once you are happy with the alignment.
Allow any glue you use to fully cure before handling the model extensively.

When should I prime the wagon?

Prime after you have completed any necessary sanding and test fitting. Many modellers prefer to assemble the main structure first, then prime the wagon as a whole, leaving wheels and any moving parts separate so they remain free-running.

What type of paint works well on these resin parts?

Use paints that are suitable for plastic and resin miniatures. Apply a compatible primer first, then build up thin coats of your chosen colours. Always check that your primer and paint are recommended for use on resin to ensure good adhesion.

Do I need to do anything special before priming and painting?

Once you have finished any light sanding, make sure the parts are free from dust. A gentle brush or a quick blow with clean air is usually enough. With supports already removed and the parts cleaned and cured, they are ready for you to prime and paint in your preferred style.
