FAQ – Product FAQs
General Product FAQs
What exactly is included in this G-scale scenery set?
This set includes nine grey resin-printed pieces designed for model railway and diorama use: two oil drums, two 20L jerry cans, two plastic-style containers, two 1-gallon style oil cans, and one propane tank.
What scale are these pieces suitable for?
The pieces are designed for G-scale layouts and also work very nicely on GN-15 layouts, especially in workshop, yard, or industrial scenes.
Do the items come painted or finished?
No, all pieces come unprimed and unpainted in grey resin. They are ready for you to prime and paint in your own style to match your layout or diorama.
Are the pieces assembled when they arrive?
All items are cleaned and cured by hand and supplied unassembled if any assembly is needed. Most pieces are single parts, so you can usually go straight to priming and painting.
Are supports still attached to the models?
No, all supports are removed before shipping. We do our best to remove support marks, though you may find the occasional spot that benefits from a little extra sanding.
How delicate are these resin parts?
Resin can be quite delicate, especially with smaller details, so it’s important to handle the pieces gently and avoid dropping them. They are intended as display and scenery items rather than toys.
Troubleshooting FAQs
My item arrived broken in the post, what should I do?
If your piece arrives damaged from shipping, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging and contact the seller. While we can’t be responsible for breakages after safe delivery, we will see what we can do to help with postal damage.
I can see faint support marks on the surface, is this normal?
Yes, very fine support marks can sometimes remain even after careful cleanup. These are usually minor and can be smoothed out with light sanding before priming.
The parts don’t seem to sit flat on my layout, how can I fix this?
If a base is slightly uneven, gently sand the bottom of the piece on a flat surface using fine sandpaper until it sits level. Take your time and check the fit regularly.
There is a slight texture on the resin surface, will it show after painting?
A very light texture can appear on resin prints. A combination of light sanding and a good primer coat usually gives a smooth finish. Check the surface after priming and lightly sand again if needed before applying your main colours.
The detail seems soft after priming, what went wrong?
Overly thick primer coats can obscure fine details. Use several light coats instead of one heavy coat, allowing each to dry fully. If detail is obscured, you may gently sand back the primer and re-prime more lightly.
Assembly & Painting FAQs
Do I need to wash the parts before painting?
Although the pieces are cleaned and cured by hand, many painters like to give resin parts a quick wash in mild soapy water, rinse, and let them dry fully. This helps ensure the primer adheres well.
What primer should I use on these resin pieces?
Use a primer designed for miniatures or plastic/resin models. Both brush-on and spray primers work well; just apply in thin, even coats to preserve the fine detail on the drums, cans, and containers.
What type of paint works best?
Acrylic model paints are a popular choice because they adhere well to primed resin and dry quickly. Enamels can also be used over a suitable primer if that’s your preferred system.
How can I make the cans and drums look more realistic?
After your base colours, try adding gentle weathering to suggest workshop or yard use. Techniques like dry-brushing, washes, and subtle rust or oil stains can really bring these small details to life on a G-scale or GN-15 layout.
Do I need to glue any parts together?
Most pieces are single, solid items, but if any item does arrive in separate parts, standard model glue for resin (such as cyanoacrylate/super glue) works well. Test-fit first, then glue, and allow it to cure fully before priming and painting.
