FAQ – Product FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is this figure?

This is an unpainted G-Scale (1:22) driver figure, approximately 75mm tall, 3D scanned from a real person to capture realistic looks and poses. He is shown wearing a work coat and can be used either mounted in a cab or standing around the yard.

Is the painted figure in the photos included?

No, the painted figure shown in the first picture is one of my own painted versions and is for illustration only. You will receive an unpainted resin figure.

What scale and brands is this figure suitable for?

The figure is G-Scale 1:22, suitable for layouts similar in scale to LGB, Bachmann and other 1:22 style garden railway ranges.

Where is the figure made and how is it printed?

The model is printed here in the UK using high detail resin. Each item is cleaned and cured by hand before being packed.

Is this figure a toy and is it suitable for children?

No, these items are not toys and are not suitable for minors. They contain small parts and can be a choking hazard, so they should be kept out of reach of children.

What kind of packaging do you use?

Our packaging is eco friendly. The exterior packing is made in part from recycled materials and is fully recyclable, while the interior packing materials are acid free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.

What type of primer should I use on the figure?

The model can be primed with Halfords grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer. Both give a good key for your chosen paints to adhere to.

Do I need to do any preparation before painting?

All items are cleaned and cured by hand, but the figures may require some minor finishing before painting. This can include light sanding or scraping of any small print marks or support nibs.

What paints work best on this resin figure?

Once primed with a suitable primer such as Halfords grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer, most hobby model paints designed for miniatures and plastic models will work well. Apply thin coats and allow each layer to dry fully.

How can I achieve a realistic finish on the driver?

After priming, build up the colours in thin layers, starting with base coats and then adding shading and highlights. A simple approach is to use a darker base colour and then gently dry-brush lighter tones over raised areas such as folds in the work coat and facial details.

Can I reposition or convert the figure?

The figure is printed in resin as a fixed pose, so major repositioning is not recommended. Simple conversions, such as adding tools or small accessories, can be done carefully with modelling tools and suitable adhesives.

Do I need to wash the figure before priming?

The figures are cleaned by hand before dispatch, but if you wish you can give the model a gentle wash in lukewarm water with a tiny amount of mild detergent, then allow it to dry completely before applying primer.

What should I do if the figure arrives broken in the post?

If the piece is broken in the post, please provide clear images of the damage. We will then see what we can do to help make things good. We cannot be held responsible for breakages once the item has arrived safely and been handled or dropped.

What if there are small surface imperfections?

Minor surface marks can usually be tidied up with gentle sanding using fine abrasive pads or careful scraping with a sharp hobby knife. Always test a small area first and take your time to avoid removing fine detail.

The primer is not adhering well. What can I do?

Ensure the figure is completely clean and dry before priming. If needed, wash the model gently in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent, rinse thoroughly, allow to dry, then apply a light mist coat of a suitable primer such as Halfords grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer.

The figure looks slightly shiny after curing. Is that normal?

A slight sheen on the resin is normal and will disappear once primed. A good quality primer coat will give you a consistent, matt surface ready for painting.

How fragile is the resin, and how should I handle it?

Resin can be quite delicate, especially around finer details. Try to avoid dropping the figure or applying pressure to thin parts. Handle it by the more solid areas, and store it safely when not in use.

How is the figure shipped?

The figure is dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd Class, carefully packed in eco friendly materials to protect it in transit.

Can you be held responsible if I break the figure after it arrives?

We cannot be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived and has been handled or dropped. However, if damage occurs during postage, please send photos and we will do our best to help.

Is this figure supplied under license?
