FAQ – Product FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions – G-Scale Model Anvil

What exactly is included in my order?

Your order includes two grey resin-printed pieces: one anvil (approximately 15mm x 37mm x 20mm high) and one base (approximately 28mm x 34mm x 20mm high). No additional accessories, figures, or scenery items are included.

What scale is this anvil suitable for?

This anvil is designed for G-Scale layouts and scenes. The proportions and detailing make it ideal for G-Scale workshops, farrier setups, and general industrial or yard scenes.

Is the anvil already attached to the base?

The anvil and base are supplied as two separate resin pieces. They are unassembled so you can position or fix the anvil on the base exactly how you want it in your scene.

What colour are the parts when they arrive?

Both the anvil and the base are supplied in grey resin. They arrive unprimed and unpainted, ready for you to prime and paint in your preferred colour scheme.

How are the pieces finished before shipping?

Each piece is cleaned and cured by hand. All supports are removed and we do our best to smooth support marks, but you may find that a little fine sanding improves the final finish before priming and painting.

Is this anvil suitable for use as a toy?

This is a display and modelling piece intended for hobbyists and collectors. The resin can be delicate and is not designed to withstand rough handling, so it is not recommended as a toy for young children.

My anvil arrived with slight layer lines or small marks. Is this normal?

Minor layer lines or tiny support marks are a normal part of resin 3D printing. We clean and cure each piece by hand and remove supports, but a light sand with fine-grit paper before priming will usually take care of any remaining imperfections.

The anvil or base looks slightly warped. What should I do?

If you notice warping on arrival, first check that the piece is actually warped and not just sitting on an uneven surface. If it is genuinely warped from shipping, please take clear photos and contact us so we can discuss possible solutions.

What if my anvil breaks during shipping?

If your anvil or base arrives broken, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging and get in touch. We will review the images and see what we can do to help resolve the issue.

Can you replace parts that I accidentally break after delivery?

Resin is delicate and can break if dropped or handled roughly. We cannot be held responsible for breakages after the item has arrived. However, you are always welcome to contact us and we will do our best to advise on repair options.

My model arrived with a slightly rough edge where supports were removed. How do I fix it?

A slightly rough edge where supports were removed can be smoothed with gentle sanding. Use fine-grit sandpaper or sanding sticks and work slowly until the area is smooth enough for priming and painting.

The pieces do not seem to sit flat on my layout. How can I correct this?

First check that your layout surface is flat. If the base itself is slightly uneven, gentle sanding on a flat sanding surface can usually correct it. Take off very small amounts at a time to avoid over-sanding.

Do I need to wash the parts before painting?

The pieces are already cleaned and cured by hand, so additional washing is usually not necessary. If you prefer, you can give them a quick rinse in mild soapy water, allow them to dry completely, and then proceed with priming.

What type of primer should I use?

Use a primer suitable for resin miniatures. Spray or brush-on acrylic primers that are formulated for plastic or resin models generally work well. Apply in thin, even coats to preserve the fine details of the anvil and base.

How should I paint the anvil to look realistic?

After priming, many modellers use dark metallic paints for the anvil, then highlight edges with a lighter metallic tone. A subtle wash or weathering can help bring out the details and give it a used workshop look.

Can I paint the base to match my existing layout?

Yes. The base is unpainted specifically so you can match it to your workshop floor, yard, or interior scene. You can paint it to look like concrete, timber, or any surface that suits your layout.

What glue should I use to attach the anvil to the base?

For resin-to-resin bonding, a small amount of cyanoacrylate (super glue) works well. Lightly roughen the contact surfaces with fine sandpaper, apply a tiny drop of glue, and hold in place until set.

Do I need to assemble anything besides attaching the anvil to the base?

No additional assembly is required. The listing is for two separate resin pieces (anvil and base). Any assembly is simply positioning and fixing the anvil to the base or directly onto your layout, depending on your preference.
