FAQ – Product FAQs

General Product FAQs

What scale is this driver figure?

The figure is G-Scale 1:22.5 and is approximately 60mm tall, making it suitable for layouts similar to LGB and Bachmann garden railway stock.

Is the figure supplied painted?

No, the figure is supplied unpainted. It is intended for hobbyists who enjoy priming and painting their own figures to match their locomotives and layouts.

What material is the figure made from?

The figure is printed in the UK using high detail resin. This allows the 3D scanned details and realistic pose to come through very crisply once painted.

What kind of pose does the driver have?

This is a seated figure scanned from a real person, suitable for use as a driver either seated in a cab or posed standing around in the yard with a little scene setting.

Are these figures toys?

No, these are scale model figures intended for adult hobbyists and collectors. They are not toys and are not suitable for minors, as small parts can present a choking hazard.

How are the figures packaged and shipped?

The figures are dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd class. Packaging is eco-friendly: the exterior is partly made from recycled materials and is fully recyclable, and the interior packing is acid free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.

Troubleshooting FAQs

My figure arrived broken, what should I do?

If the piece appears to have been damaged in the post, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging and get in touch. While we cannot be responsible for breakages after arrival, we will always see what we can do to help make things good when damage occurs in transit.

The resin looks slightly rough in places, is this normal?

All items are cleaned and cured by hand, and a small amount of surface texture or tiny support marks can be normal with high detail resin prints. The figure may require minor finishing before painting, such as light sanding or smoothing.

Parts seem delicate and I’m worried about handling them.

Resin can be quite delicate, especially on fine details. Handle the figure carefully, avoid dropping it, and support thinner areas (like arms or tools) when working on it. Taking care during assembly and painting will greatly reduce the chance of breakage.

The figure doesn’t sit quite right in my cab, what can I do?

Cab interiors and seat heights vary between manufacturers. You can carefully adjust the fit by lightly sanding the underside of the figure or the seat, or by packing the seat up with a thin shim until the pose looks natural.

There are small bits or flakes on the model after unpacking.

Occasionally a little loose resin dust or tiny flakes from transit can be present. Gently brush the figure with a soft brush or rinse lightly in lukewarm water and allow it to dry completely before priming.

Assembly & Painting FAQs

Do I need to do any preparation before painting?

Yes, a little preparation helps. Check for any minor mould lines or support marks and gently smooth them. Make sure the figure is clean and dry, then apply a suitable primer before painting.

Which primer should I use on this resin figure?

The figure can be primed with Halfords grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer, both of which work very well on this high detail resin and give a good key for acrylic paints.

What type of paint works best?

Acrylic paints are recommended for this figure. They adhere well over a suitable primer, dry quickly, and allow you to build up thin layers to keep the fine scanned details visible.

Any tips for painting to keep the detail visible?

Use thin coats of primer and paint, allowing each layer to dry before adding the next. Focus on building up colour gradually rather than covering in one heavy coat, so the realistic folds and features from the 3D scan remain sharp.

Can I modify or reposition the figure?

The figure is printed as a single high detail resin piece in a fixed pose. Minor adjustments, such as carefully sanding contact areas or adding small scenic details around him, are fine, but major reposing is not recommended due to the delicate nature of resin.
