Product details

Here we have G-scale milk churns to use as model railway scenery. Perfect as wagon loads or to sit around on the platform and loading areas.  Ideal pieces to bring a layout or diorama to life and the kind of items you would have lying around either full or empty!  Great for GN-15 layouts as well of course.
Your order will come with the following great pieces :

Nine Milk Churns

This listing is for nine resin printed pieces in grey.

Finishing: All items are cleaned and cured by hand. They are unassembled (if needed). Ready for you to prime and paint.

We do our very best to remove support marks but some fine sanding may be required.

All pieces and parts come unprimed and unpainted with all supports removed, four painted are just shown to see how I paint them, car primer and then silver acrylic spray.

Please do bear in mind that resin can be quite delicate so try to avoid dropping your parts! Sadly, we can't be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived. However, if the piece is broken in the post, please provide images and we'll see what we can do to help.

FAQ – G-Scale Resin Milk Churns (Set of Nine)

What exactly do I get with this listing?

You receive nine G-scale milk churns, resin printed in grey. All supports are removed, the pieces are cleaned and cured by hand, and they arrive unprimed and unpainted, ready for you to prime and paint.

What scales and layouts are these milk churns suitable for?

These churns are designed for G-scale layouts and also work very nicely on GN-15 layouts. They are ideal as wagon loads, or as platform and loading-area details to bring your railway or diorama to life.

Are the milk churns supplied painted like the ones in the photos?

No, all pieces are supplied unprimed and unpainted in grey resin. Any painted examples shown are only to demonstrate how they can look when finished (for example, primed with car primer and then painted with silver acrylic spray).

Do the milk churns come assembled?

The churns are supplied as unassembled pieces if any assembly is needed. They arrive with supports removed and are ready for you to prime, paint, and, if applicable, glue together.

Are these suitable for use outdoors or in the garden?

The churns are resin printed and intended primarily for model railway and diorama use. If you plan to use them outdoors, it is best to prime and paint them thoroughly to help protect the surface, and avoid placing them where they will be handled roughly.

Can I use these churns as wagon loads straight away?

Yes, once you have primed and painted them, you can place them directly into wagons or on platforms and loading areas. Many modellers like to group them in small clusters to suggest either full or empty churns waiting for collection.

My churn arrived with visible support marks. Is this normal?

All pieces are cleaned, cured, and have supports removed by hand, and we do our very best to remove support marks. However, some fine sanding may still be required to achieve the smoothest finish before priming and painting.

The surface feels slightly rough in places. How can I improve it?

Lightly sand any rough areas or remaining support marks with fine-grit sandpaper, then dust off the piece before priming. A good primer coat will help even out the surface and give your paint something to grip.

One of my churns has a small chip or crack. What should I do?

If the damage appears to be from shipping, please take clear photos of the damaged piece and the packaging and contact us. We cannot be responsible for breakages after delivery, but if it was damaged in the post we will see what we can do to help.

My churns arrived slightly warped or bent. Can this be fixed?

These pieces are resin and generally hold their shape well. If you notice any warping on arrival, please photograph the issue and get in touch. Do not attempt to forcefully bend resin parts, as they can be delicate and may snap.

What should I do if a churn breaks after I’ve started working on it?

Resin can be quite delicate, especially if dropped or handled roughly. You can often repair small breaks with a suitable model glue, but we cannot be held responsible for breakages once the item has arrived.

How fragile are the resin milk churns?

Resin gives good detail but can be delicate, particularly at thinner sections. Try to avoid dropping the churns or applying heavy pressure when sanding, assembling, or placing them on your layout.

How should I prepare the churns before painting?

The churns arrive cleaned and cured, with supports removed. Before painting, you may wish to:

  • Inspect for any remaining support marks and gently sand them.
  • Wipe off any dust from sanding.
  • Apply a suitable primer (for example, a car primer) to give a good base for your paint.

What kind of paint works well on these resin pieces?

Once primed, most model paints will work well. The painted examples mentioned use car primer followed by silver acrylic spray, but you can choose any colours and finishes that suit your layout, such as weathered metal or aged, rusty churns.

Do I need to glue any parts together?

The churns are supplied unassembled only if needed; many will be single pieces. If any assembly is required, a standard model glue suitable for resin is usually sufficient. Always test-fit parts before gluing.

Any tips for painting realistic-looking milk churns?

A simple approach is:

  • Prime the churns with a suitable primer.
  • Spray or brush on a base metallic colour, such as silver.
  • Add light washes or dry-brushing in darker tones to suggest dirt, wear, and age.
  • Finish with a matte or satin varnish if desired to protect your paintwork.
