Product details

Trackside or roadside this unpainted figure of a farmer sitting on a milk churn will certainly set a scene. He is approx. 72mm tall and is G-Scale 1:22.5 (like the scale of LGB/Bachmann etc.)

These figures are 3d scanned from real people to get both realistic looks and poses!

The model is printed here in the UK  using high detail resin. The model is supplied unpainted and can be primered with Simonez grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer.

All figures are cleaned and cured by hand, we certainly won't send them out with supports still attached. The figures may require some minor finishing if needed before painting. The condition is new and they are dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd class.

Our packaging is Eco friendly, the exterior packing is made in part from Recycled Materials and is fully recyclable, the interior packing materials are acid free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.

Please do bear in mind that resin can be quite delicate so try to avoid dropping your parts! Sadly, we cant be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived. However, if the piece is broken in the post, please provide images and we will see what we can do to help to make things good.

Needless to say these items are not toys and are not suitable for minors as they could be a choking hazard because of small parts.

FAQ – Product FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is this figure?

This is an unpainted high-detail resin figure of a farmer sitting on a milk churn. It is designed as a scenic detail for model railways or dioramas and works trackside or roadside to help set a realistic rural scene.

What scale and size is the figure?

The figure is G-Scale 1:22.5, compatible with ranges like LGB and Bachmann in that scale. The farmer is approximately 72 mm tall.

Is the figure already painted?

No, the figure is supplied unpainted. It arrives ready for you to prime and paint in your own colour scheme.

How is the figure produced?

The figure is 3D scanned from a real person to capture realistic looks and poses, then printed in the UK using high detail resin. Each piece is cleaned and cured by hand before dispatch.

Are supports still attached when I receive it?

No, we remove the supports during our hand-cleaning process. You will not receive the model with supports still attached, though some minor finishing may still be useful before painting.

How is the figure packaged and shipped?

The figure is dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd Class. Our packaging is eco friendly: the exterior packaging is made in part from recycled materials and is fully recyclable, and the interior packing is acid free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.

What primer should I use on the figure?

The model can be primed with Simonez grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer, both of which work well on the resin surface.

Is the resin fragile?

Resin can be quite delicate, especially with finer details, so it is best to handle the figure carefully and avoid dropping it or applying excessive pressure to thin parts.

Is this figure suitable for children?

No, these items are not toys and are not suitable for minors. They contain small parts and can pose a choking hazard.

Who is the design licensed from?

The figure is sold under commercial license from Design Scan Print 3D.

Can I use this with my outdoor G-scale layout?

The figure matches G-Scale 1:22.5 proportions for use alongside brands like LGB and Bachmann in that scale. As with any resin model, if used outdoors it should be well painted and sealed, and protected from rough handling.

Can I modify or kitbash the figure?

Yes, you can carefully modify the resin figure using appropriate tools if you wish to customise poses or details. Take care not to stress thin areas, as resin is more brittle than plastic.

My figure arrived broken in the post, what should I do?

If your figure appears to have been damaged during shipping, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging and contact us. While we cannot be responsible for breakages after safe delivery, we will see what we can do to help make things good when damage occurs in transit.

The figure has small surface marks. Is this normal?

Minor surface marks or faint layer lines can occur with high detail resin printing. These are usually easy to smooth with light sanding or a small amount of model filler before priming.

The figure does not seem to stand right on my layout. What can I do?

Check that the surface where you are placing the figure is level and clean. You can lightly sand the base of the figure to improve contact, or use a small amount of modelling adhesive to fix it securely to your scenery.

The primer is not adhering evenly. How can I fix this?

Ensure the figure is free from dust and handling oils before priming. Wash it gently in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, let it dry completely, and then apply a light mist coat of Simonez grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer before building up coverage.

The resin looks slightly shiny. Is that a problem?

A slight sheen on cured resin is normal. A good primer coat will provide a uniform, paint-friendly surface and remove the shine. Just make sure the figure is clean and dry before priming.

Some details look softer than expected. Can I sharpen them?

Fine details can sometimes benefit from careful cleaning. Use a very sharp hobby blade to gently define edges, and a fine sanding stick to tidy surfaces. Work slowly to avoid removing too much material.

Do I need to wash the figure before painting?

Although the figure is cleaned and cured by hand, it is still good practice to gently wash it in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent, rinse, and allow it to dry fully before priming. This helps paint and primer adhere better.

What is the best way to prime the figure?

Use a fine spray primer such as Simonez grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer. Apply several light coats rather than one heavy coat, holding the spray at the recommended distance and rotating the figure to reach all angles.

Which paints should I use?

You can use your preferred model paints once the figure is properly primed. Choose paints that are compatible with your chosen primer, and build up colour in thin layers to preserve the fine detail.

How can I prepare the figure for painting?

Follow these steps for best results:

  • Inspect the figure for any tiny nubs or marks and gently remove them with a sharp blade or fine file.
  • Wash the figure in lukewarm, mildly soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Mount the figure on a holder (such as a temporary base or stick) for easier handling while priming and painting.
  • Apply a suitable primer in light coats.

How do I protect the paintwork once finished?

After the paint is fully dry, you can apply a suitable clear varnish compatible with your paints to help protect the finish from handling. Choose matt, satin, or gloss depending on the look you prefer.

Can I repaint the figure if I am not happy with the result?

Yes, you can repaint. Either carefully overpaint after a light keying of the surface with very fine abrasive, or strip the paint using a paint remover that is safe for resin, then re-prime and start again, testing any product on a hidden area first.
