Product details

A Small  Waiting Room and Ticket Office

This is a general purpose waiting room and ticket office. It's a great item to use on a small station and the size is well suited to narrow platforms.

It has a near footprint of 61mm by 23mm and will fit nicely and unobtrusively on small platforms

This kit comes with a separate roof and door, so you can model it with the door open or closed. Glazing for the doors and windows is supplied. Also the notice board is glazed and you can add a print of a timetable or local information or advertising.

When painted, this is a nice addition to any layout. It can be painted with normal car primer and acrylic paints.

The model is shipped from stock and is ready to paint. This listing is for three resin printed pieces and glazing. The pictures showing it painted are for examples only and are not included.

Finishing: All items are cleaned and cured by hand. They are unassembled (if needed). Ready for you to prime and paint.

We do our very best to remove support marks, but some fine sanding may be required.

All pieces and parts come unprimed and unpainted with all supports removed.

Remember, the delicacy of resin calls for gentle handling. Though we can't be responsible for accidents after delivery, we're here to assist if any mishaps occur during transit. Just provide us with images, and we'll explore ways to lend a helping hand.

FAQ – Product FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions – Small Waiting Room and Ticket Office

What exactly is included in this kit?

This listing includes three resin printed pieces (building body, separate roof, and separate door) plus clear glazing for the doors, windows, and notice board. All parts are supplied unassembled (where applicable), unprimed, and unpainted, with supports removed.

What are the dimensions of the building?

The building has a footprint of approximately 61 mm by 23 mm, making it well suited to small or narrow station platforms where space is limited.

Is this suitable for small or narrow platforms?

Yes. The compact 61 mm x 23 mm footprint is designed to sit neatly on small or narrow platforms without dominating the scene, making it ideal for modest country stations or compact layouts.

Does the kit come pre-painted or ready-built?

No. The model is shipped from stock as unpainted, unprimed resin parts. It is ready for you to assemble (if needed), prime, and paint. Any painted examples shown in photos are for illustration only and are not included.

Can I pose the door open or closed?

Yes. The door is supplied as a separate piece so you can choose to model it open or closed. You can also fix it at any angle you like to suggest a busy or quiet station scene.

What is the notice board glazing for?

The notice board is supplied with glazing so you can add your own printed timetable, local information, or advertising behind it. This gives a neat, glass-fronted look that really brings the building to life.

What type of paint and primer should I use?

The model can be painted with normal car primer followed by acrylic paints. A light coat of primer helps paint adhere and shows up any areas that may need a final sand before finishing.

Do I need to do any sanding or preparation before painting?

All items are cleaned, cured, and have supports removed by hand, but some fine sanding may still be required, especially where supports were attached. A quick pass with fine wet-and-dry paper or sanding sticks will give the best finish before priming.

Is the resin fragile?

Resin is naturally more delicate than some other modelling materials, so gentle handling is recommended, especially around thin details. Once painted and fixed to your layout, it will stand up well to normal use.

Can I use this building with other station structures?

Yes. This is a general-purpose waiting room and ticket office that works well alongside other station buildings, platforms, and accessories. Its small footprint means it can tuck into spaces where larger structures will not fit.

Is this model based on a specific real building?

It is designed as a general-purpose small waiting room and ticket office, inspired by traditional railway architecture rather than a single prototype. It will look at home on many eras and regions with appropriate paint and signage.

Can the glazing be left out?

Yes. The glazing is optional. You can fit it for a finished, glassy look, or leave it out if you prefer to model an older or more weather-beaten structure.

The parts arrived with slight marks where supports were removed. Is that normal?

Some faint support marks are normal with resin printing. We do our very best to remove them, but a little extra fine sanding by the modeller is sometimes needed for a perfectly smooth finish before priming and painting.

The roof or door does not seem to sit perfectly. What should I do?

Dry-fit the parts first. If something is not sitting true, check for tiny print nubs or paint build-up on the mating surfaces and gently sand them flat. Small adjustments with a fine file or sanding stick usually resolve the fit.

My glazing pieces seem slightly too large or tight. How can I fix this?

Glazing can sometimes benefit from a light trim. Use a sharp hobby knife or fine scissors to shave a fraction from the edges, test-fitting as you go. Do not force the glazing into place, as this can stress the resin.

There is a slight warp or bend in one of the pieces. Can it be corrected?

Minor warps can often be eased by gently warming the part in hand-hot (not boiling) water, carefully straightening it, and then holding it in the correct shape under cool water. Always handle resin gently to avoid snapping thin sections.

What should I do if something arrives damaged from transit?

If anything arrives damaged, please take clear photos of the affected parts and packaging and contact us. While we cannot be responsible for accidents after delivery, we will always try to help with issues that arise during transit.

The surface looks slightly glossy in places. Will paint still stick?

Yes, but for best results, give the model a light wash in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, let it dry, and then apply a thin coat of car primer. This helps paint adhere evenly and removes any remaining handling residue.

How should I assemble the parts before painting?

Many modellers prefer to:

  • Test-fit all parts dry.
  • Lightly sand and clean the contact surfaces.
  • Prime parts separately, especially the roof and door.
  • Glue the main body and roof once painting is mostly complete.

This approach helps you reach interior and window areas more easily.

What glue should I use on the resin parts?

Use a good quality cyanoacrylate (super glue) for bonding the resin components. Apply sparingly to avoid squeeze-out around visible joints, and allow time for a secure bond before handling.

How do I fit the glazing neatly?

Cut the glazing to size if needed, then fix it from the inside using a clear-drying adhesive. Many modellers use a tiny amount of canopy glue or a non-fogging clear glue to avoid misting or marks on the clear plastic.

Any tips for painting the building for a realistic look?

After priming, build up colour with thin acrylic coats. Pick out doors, frames, and trim in contrasting colours, then add a light wash into the panel lines and a little dry-brushing on edges to highlight detail. A dusting of weathering powders along the base and roof helps it blend into your layout.

Can I add interior details or lighting?

The building is supplied as a shell with separate roof and door, so you can add your own interior details or lighting if you wish. Simply keep the roof removable or fit lighting before final assembly, using your preferred components and methods.
