Please do bear in mind that resin can be quite delicate so try to avoid dropping your parts! Sadly, we cant be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived. However, if the piece is broken in the post, please provide images and we will see what we can do to help to make things good.

Needless to say these items are not toys and are not suitable for minors as they could be a choking hazard because of small parts.

FAQ – Product FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What scale is this shepherd figure, and how tall is it?

The shepherd is G-Scale 1:22 and stands at approximately 78mm tall, making him a great match for layouts using brands like LGB and Bachmann.

Is the figure supplied painted or unpainted?

The figure is supplied unpainted so you can finish it in your own style to match your layout, era, and weathering level.

How are these figures created?

Each figure is 3D scanned from a real person to capture realistic proportions and natural poses, then produced using high detail resin printing here in the UK.

What material is the figure made from?

The shepherd is printed in high detail resin, which allows for crisp detail and smooth surfaces suitable for fine painting.

Is this figure suitable for children?

No. These items are not toys and are not suitable for minors, as small parts can present a choking hazard and the resin is relatively delicate.

Who is the design licensed from?

The figure is sold under commercial license from Design Scan Print 3D.

How is the figure cleaned and prepared before shipping?

All items are cleaned and cured by hand after printing. This removes uncured resin and ensures the figure is ready for any minor finishing you may wish to do before priming and painting.

What kind of packaging do you use?

We use eco-friendly packaging. The outer packaging is made in part from recycled materials and is fully recyclable. The inner packing materials are acid-free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.

How is the item shipped, and from where?

The figures are printed and prepared in the UK and dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd Class.

Can I use this figure with other G-scale brands?

Yes. The shepherd is designed for G-Scale 1:22 and works well alongside popular G-scale ranges such as LGB and Bachmann.

Is the pose fixed or adjustable?

The pose is fixed. Because it is 3D scanned from a real person, the figure has a natural, realistic stance, but it is not articulated.

Is the figure ready to paint straight out of the box?

The figure is fully cured and cleaned, but you may wish to do some minor finishing work such as light sanding or trimming before priming and painting, depending on your personal standards.

My figure arrived with a small break – what should I do?

If the piece appears to have been damaged in transit, please take clear photos of the breakage and contact us. We will review the images and see what we can do to help put things right.

The figure arrived intact but I broke it later – can you replace it?

Resin can be quite delicate, and we cannot be held responsible for breakages that occur after delivery. However, feel free to contact us for advice on repair techniques or to discuss ordering a replacement.

The surface looks slightly rough in places – is this normal?

Minor surface texture or faint layer lines can sometimes appear with high detail resin printing. These are usually easy to smooth with light sanding or careful scraping before priming.

What should I do if the figure doesn’t stand perfectly upright?

Resin figures sometimes benefit from a small base. You can:

  • Lightly sand the bottom of the feet to level them.
  • Pin the feet to your layout or a scenic base.
  • Use a small scenic base and blend it into your landscape.

Can I bend or heat the figure to change the pose?

We do not recommend heating or bending the resin. It is designed to hold its shape as printed, and excessive force or heat can cause warping or breakage.

What primer should I use on this figure?

The figure can be primed with Halfords grey primer or Tamiya Fine Surface Primer, both of which give a good key for most hobby paints.

Do I need to wash the figure before painting?

The figure is already cleaned and cured by hand, but some painters prefer to give it a quick wash in mild soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly, to ensure the best paint adhesion.

What type of paints work best on this resin?

Once primed, standard hobby acrylics or enamels adhere well to high detail resin. Choose paints that you are comfortable with and that match the finish of your existing rolling stock and scenery.

Do I need to do any assembly before painting?

This shepherd is supplied as a single unpainted figure, so there is no multi-part assembly. You may wish to:

  • Carefully remove any small print nubs if present.
  • Lightly sand or scrape seams or support marks.
  • Attach the figure to a temporary holder (such as a cork or bottle top) for easier painting.

How can I protect the paintwork once finished?

After painting and allowing the paints to fully cure, you can apply a suitable clear varnish (matte, satin, or gloss, depending on your preference) to help protect the finish from handling and dust.

Any tips for integrating the shepherd into my layout?

For a natural look, try:

  • Placing him near a flock of sheep or livestock pens.
  • Blending his base into grass, dirt, or ballast.
  • Matching his colours and weathering to the overall tone of your layout.
