Resin can be quite delicate, so please avoid dropping or stressing the parts. Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived safely.
The resin looks slightly uneven in places. Is that normal?
Because each figure is 3D printed and finished by hand, very minor surface variations can occur. These are usually easily dealt with during the minor finishing stage before priming and painting.
The figure doesn’t sit quite right in my cab or seat. What can I do?
Cab and seat sizes vary between models. You can usually improve the fit with careful adjustment of the mounting surface on your locomotive or bench, or by gently adjusting how the figure is positioned and secured.
The primer is not adhering as I expected. What might be wrong?
Ensure the figure is clean and free from dust or grease before priming. Using one of the recommended primers (Halfords Grey, Tamiya Fine Surface, or Simonez Grey Primer) on a dry, clean surface will give the best results.
There is a small mark or line on the figure. Can this be fixed?
Yes. Small marks or lines can usually be removed with light sanding or careful scraping, followed by a quick check under primer to ensure the surface is smooth before painting.
How should I prepare the figure for painting?
Preparation is straightforward:
- Check for and tidy any minor surface imperfections.
- Ensure the figure is clean and dry.
- Apply a suitable primer (such as Halfords Grey, Tamiya Fine Surface, or Simonez Grey Primer).
- Allow the primer to dry thoroughly before applying your chosen paints.
Do I need to wash the figure before priming?
All items are cleaned and cured by hand, but some modellers prefer to give a gentle additional clean to ensure there is no dust or handling residue before priming. Just make sure the figure is completely dry before applying primer.
Can I sand or file the resin?
Yes, the resin can be carefully sanded or filed for minor finishing. Take your time and use fine tools so you do not damage delicate details.
What type of paints can I use after priming?
Once you have applied one of the recommended primers and it has fully cured, you can use your usual model paints suitable for primed resin figures.
Any tips for painting this seated driver/rest figure?
Because the figure is 3D scanned from a real person, subtle shading works very well. After priming, build up thin layers of colour for clothing, pick out the cap and facial features carefully, and use gentle weathering if you want a “working railway” look.
