FAQ – Product FAQs
General Product FAQs
What scale is this seated driver figure?
The figure is G-Scale 1:22.5 and is approximately 63 mm tall in the seated position, making it suitable for layouts similar in scale to LGB and Bachmann.
How are these figures created?
Each figure is 3D scanned from a real person to capture realistic body shapes, facial features, and natural poses before being produced as a high-detail resin print.
What material is the figure made from?
The figure is printed in the UK using high detail resin. Resin allows for crisp, fine details that look excellent once painted, but it should be handled with care as it can be delicate.
Is the figure supplied painted?
No, the figure is supplied unpainted so you can finish it to match your own locomotives, rolling stock, and layout style.
How is the figure packaged and shipped?
The figure is dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd Class. Our packaging is eco-friendly: the outer packaging is partly made from recycled materials and is fully recyclable, while the inner packing materials are acid-free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.
Is this figure suitable for children?
No, these items are not toys and are not suitable for minors. They contain small parts and can pose a choking hazard, so they are intended for adult model makers and collectors.
Troubleshooting FAQs
My figure arrived broken in the post, what should I do?
If your figure appears to have been damaged during delivery, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging, then contact us with those images. While we cannot be responsible for breakages after safe delivery, we will always see what we can do to help make things right when damage occurs in transit.
The resin looks slightly rough in places, is this normal?
All items are cleaned and cured by hand, and some very minor surface texture or marks can occur. This is normal for high-detail resin prints and can usually be smoothed with light sanding or scraping before priming and painting.
The figure does not fit perfectly in my cab, what can I do?
Cab dimensions vary between different G-Scale locomotives. If the seated driver does not fit exactly, you can carefully trim or sand the underside of the figure or the mounting area in the cab to achieve a better fit, taking care not to stress delicate parts.
There are small bits of flash or tiny marks on the figure, how should I clean them up?
Minor finishing is sometimes needed. Use a sharp hobby knife, fine needle files, or fine-grit sanding sticks to gently remove any flash, sprue marks, or small imperfections before priming.
My figure feels a bit delicate, how should I handle it?
Resin can be quite fragile, especially at thinner parts like arms and fingers. Handle the figure by the more solid areas (such as the torso) and avoid dropping it. We cannot be held responsible for breakages once the item has arrived, so careful handling is important.
Assembly & Painting FAQs
Does the figure require assembly?
The figure is supplied as a single resin piece, so no major assembly is normally required. You may wish to test-fit and possibly trim the base or underside to seat the driver neatly in your chosen locomotive cab.
Do I need to do any preparation before priming?
All figures are cleaned and cured by hand, but a little extra preparation is good practice. Lightly inspect the model for any remaining residue or dust, remove any minor imperfections, and ensure the surface is dry and clean before applying primer.
Which primers work best on this figure?
The model can be primed with Halfords grey primer or Tamiya Fine Surface Primer, both of which adhere well to resin and provide a good base for your chosen paints.
What paints can I use after priming?
Once primed with a suitable primer such as Halfords grey or Tamiya Fine Surface Primer, you can use your usual model paints (for example, common hobby acrylics or enamels) that are compatible with the primer you have chosen.
Any tips for painting a realistic G-Scale driver?
Because the figure is 3D scanned from a real person, the details respond well to careful painting. Consider the following:
- Use thin coats of paint to preserve fine detail.
- Pick out facial features and hands with lighter skin tones.
- Add subtle shading and highlights to clothing folds.
- Match colours to your railway’s era and company style for a convincing cab scene.
