FAQ – Product FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What scale is this figure and what models will it suit?
This seated driver / machine operator is in G-Scale 1:22.5 and is approximately 61 mm tall. It is suitable for layouts and stock in the same scale, such as LGB and Bachmann G-scale equipment.
Is the figure supplied painted or unpainted?
The figure is supplied unpainted. It is ready for you to prime and paint in your own preferred colours and railway livery.
How is the figure produced?
The figure is 3D scanned from a real person to capture realistic looks and natural poses, then printed here in the UK using high-detail resin. Each item is cleaned and cured by hand before dispatch.
What condition is the figure in when I receive it?
The figure is supplied new, unpainted, and fully cured. It may require some minor finishing (such as light sanding or cleaning up) before priming and painting, depending on your preferred level of detail.
How is the figure packaged and shipped?
Figures are dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd Class. Our packaging is eco-friendly: the outer packaging is made in part from recycled materials and is fully recyclable, and the inner packing materials are acid-free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.
Is this product suitable for children?
No. These items are not toys and are not suitable for minors, as they contain small parts that can pose a choking hazard. They are intended for adult model makers and collectors.
What should I do if my figure arrives broken in the post?
If the figure is damaged during delivery, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging as soon as you notice it. Contact us with these images and we will see what we can do to help make things good. Please note we cannot be held responsible for breakages that occur after safe delivery.
My figure has small surface marks or tiny support points. Is this normal?
Yes, minor surface marks or very small remnants from the printing and cleaning process can occur. These are usually easy to tidy up with gentle sanding or scraping before priming. The figures are hand cleaned and cured, but some minor finishing is normal for high-detail resin models.
The resin feels delicate. How should I handle it?
Resin can be quite delicate, especially around finer details. Handle the figure carefully, avoid dropping it, and try not to apply pressure to thin parts. When working on it, support the figure firmly but gently, and store it safely when not in use.
What if a part breaks after I’ve started working on it?
Once the item has arrived safely, we can’t be held responsible for accidental breakages. However, many small breaks can be repaired at the workbench using suitable model adhesives and a bit of patience.
The figure doesn’t sit perfectly in my cab or seat. How can I adjust it?
Cab sizes and seat shapes vary between models. If the figure doesn’t sit perfectly, you can carefully trim or sand the underside or back of the figure’s seat area to fit your specific cab, or adjust the seat in your model to suit the figure’s pose.
What primer should I use on this figure?
The figure can be primed with Halfords grey primer or Tamiya Fine Surface Primer, as recommended. Always apply light coats and allow each coat to dry fully before painting.
Do I need to wash the figure before priming?
The figures are cleaned and cured by hand before dispatch, but some modellers prefer to give resin parts a quick wash in mild soapy water, followed by a thorough rinse and full drying, to ensure the surface is completely free of dust or handling residue before priming.
What type of paints work best on this resin figure?
Once properly primed, most common model paints adhere well. Many railway modellers use acrylic or enamel paints over a suitable primer. The key is a good primer coat so your chosen paint has a solid base to grip.
How can I get a realistic driver or operator finish?
After priming, build up colours in thin layers. For a realistic look, you can:
- Use slightly muted clothing colours to suit your era and railway company.
- Add gentle shading and highlights to folds in clothing.
- Pick out details like buttons, boots, and tools with a fine brush.
- Finish with subtle weathering to match the cab environment.
Do I need to do any preparation before painting besides priming?
Check the figure under good light and:
- Carefully remove any small mould lines or support marks with a fine file or sanding stick.
- Test-fit the figure in its intended position (cab, seat, or machine) before painting.
- Ensure the figure is dust-free before applying primer.
