Your order will come with the following great pieces :

Twelve Beer 50L Kegs

This listing is for twelve resin printed pieces in grey.

Finishing: All items are cleaned and cured by hand. They are unassembled (if needed). Ready for you to prime and paint.

We do our very best to remove support marks but some fine sanding may be required.

All pieces and parts come unprimed and unpainted with all supports removed, four painted are just shown to see how I paint them, car primer and then silver acrylic spray.

Please do bear in mind that resin can be quite delicate so try to avoid dropping your parts! Sadly, we can't be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived. However, if the piece is broken in the post, please provide images and we'll see what we can do to help.

Frequently Asked Questions – G-Scale 50L Beer Kegs (Resin Printed)

What exactly do I get with this listing?

You receive twelve G-scale 50L beer kegs, resin printed in grey. All supports are removed, the pieces are cleaned and cured by hand, and they arrive unprimed and unpainted, ready for you to prime and paint.

What scale layouts are these beer kegs suitable for?

These kegs are designed for G-scale layouts and work especially well in industrial areas, breweries, wagon loads, and dioramas. They are also great for GN-15 layouts.

Are the kegs hollow or functional in any way?

The kegs are decorative resin pieces intended purely for model railway scenery and dioramas. They are not functional containers and are meant to represent 50L beer kegs in miniature form.

Do the kegs come painted like the ones in the photos?

No, all kegs are supplied unprimed and unpainted in grey resin. Any painted examples shown are only to demonstrate one way they can be finished.

Are these suitable for beginners in model scenery?

Yes. The kegs arrive fully printed with supports removed, so you only need to do light sanding where needed, then prime and paint. They are a simple, rewarding project for both beginners and experienced modellers.

How fragile are the resin kegs?

Resin can be quite delicate, especially in smaller scales. The kegs are sturdy enough for normal layout use, but you should avoid dropping them or applying excessive pressure, as they may chip or break.

What should I do if a keg arrives broken in the post?

If any piece arrives damaged, please take clear photos of the item and the packaging and contact us. We cannot be responsible for breakages after safe delivery, but if it is damaged in transit we will review the images and see what we can do to help.

Why do some pieces have faint marks or lines on them?

These are usually minor support marks from the resin printing process. We do our very best to remove them during cleaning, but very fine sanding may still be required before priming for the smoothest finish.

Can these kegs be used outdoors on a garden railway?

The kegs are resin printed and supplied unpainted. For outdoor use on a garden railway, they should be properly primed and painted with suitable paints and clear coats to help protect them from the elements. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and extreme weather where possible.

Are the kegs supplied loose or on sprues?

The kegs are supplied as individual pieces with all supports removed. There are no sprues to cut away, so you can go straight to any light sanding, then priming and painting.

My kegs arrived slightly warped or uneven. What can I do?

Minor warping can sometimes be gently corrected by carefully warming the piece and straightening it, but resin can be delicate. If you notice significant warping on arrival, please photograph the pieces and contact us before attempting any fixes.

I see small rough spots where supports were removed. How do I smooth them?

Use fine-grit sandpaper or sanding sticks and work slowly over the rough areas. Resin sands easily, so a light touch is best. Once smooth, dust off the sanding residue before priming.

The paint is not sticking well to the kegs. What am I doing wrong?

Paint adheres best to a clean, primed surface. Before priming, ensure the kegs are free of dust and fingerprints. Then apply a suitable primer (for example, a car primer as shown in the painted examples). Once the primer is fully dry, your acrylic or other model paints should adhere much better.

One of the kegs chipped after I dropped it. Can it be repaired?

Small chips can often be repaired with a tiny amount of modelling putty or CA glue and then sanded smooth once cured. After that, simply re-prime and repaint the affected area. Take care when handling, as resin can be delicate.

Can I glue the kegs permanently to wagons or the layout?

Yes. You can fix the kegs in place using a suitable model adhesive compatible with resin. A small dab of glue on the base is usually enough to hold them securely on wagons, platforms, or in yard scenes.

How should I prepare the kegs before painting?

They are already cleaned and cured, but it is good practice to:

  • Inspect for any remaining support marks and lightly sand if needed.
  • Brush off dust or residue from sanding.
  • Optionally wash gently in mild soapy water, then let them dry completely.
  • Apply a suitable primer before your main colours.

What primer and paint were used on the example kegs?

The painted examples were finished with car primer followed by silver acrylic spray. This is just one approach; you can use similar products that you are comfortable with, as long as they are suitable for use on resin.

Can I weather the kegs to look old or rusty?

Yes. After priming and base-coating, you can use washes, dry-brushing, and weathering powders to add dirt, rust, and wear. These kegs look great stacked in yards or on wagons with a bit of grime and age added.

Do I need to assemble anything on these kegs?

No assembly is required for these particular pieces. They arrive as complete kegs. The note about items being unassembled applies generally to our range, but these kegs themselves are single-piece items.

Any tips for making the kegs look more realistic on my layout?

Try mixing finishes and arrangements:

  • Paint some kegs bright and clean, others dull and weathered.
  • Stack them on pallets, scatter a few “empty” ones on their sides, and group them near loading docks or brewery buildings.
  • Add subtle rust streaks, scuffs, and dirt to suggest regular handling and outdoor storage.
