FAQ – Product FAQs
What scale is this figure and what layouts will it suit?
This figure is G-Scale 1:22.5 and approximately 69mm tall, making it ideal for layouts that use LGB, Bachmann and other similar G-scale equipment. He works especially well in scenes with trees, logs or stumps that need clearing.
Is the figure supplied painted or unpainted?
The figure is supplied unpainted. You will receive a bare high-detail resin casting ready for priming and painting in your own colour scheme to match your layout.
How is the figure produced?
The figure is 3D scanned from a real person to capture realistic proportions and a natural mid-swing pose. It is then printed in the UK using high-detail resin, cleaned and cured by hand before dispatch.
What condition will the model arrive in?
The model is new, cleaned and cured, but may require some very minor finishing (such as light sanding or tidying) before priming and painting. It is dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd Class.
Is the packaging environmentally friendly?
Yes. The outer packaging is made in part from recycled materials and is fully recyclable. The interior packing materials are acid-free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.
Is this figure suitable for children?
No. These items are not toys and are not suitable for minors. They contain small parts and can be a choking hazard, and the resin material is intended for hobby use only.
What should I do if my figure arrives damaged in the post?
If the figure is damaged during delivery, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging and get in touch. While we cannot be responsible for breakages after safe delivery, we will do our best to help if the piece is broken in transit.
How fragile is the resin figure?
Resin can be quite delicate, especially around thin parts like limbs and tools. Avoid dropping the figure or placing heavy items on top of it. Handle it by the base or the more solid parts whenever possible.
Can the figure be repaired if it breaks?
Minor breaks can often be repaired with a suitable hobby cyanoacrylate (super glue) or epoxy adhesive. Ensure both surfaces are clean and dry, and support the joint while the glue cures. Very fine breaks may be more difficult to repair cleanly and might require careful sanding and repainting.
How should I store the figure before and after painting?
Store the figure in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to avoid any warping or discolouration. Keeping it in its original packing or a padded compartmented box will help protect delicate parts from accidental knocks.
Can I use this figure outdoors on a garden railway?
The figure is resin, so it can be used outdoors, but long-term exposure to weather and UV may affect paint and surface detail. For outdoor layouts, use a good-quality primer and durable topcoats, and consider bringing figures indoors when not in use to prolong their life.
Do I need to wash or clean the figure before painting?
The figures are cleaned and cured by hand, but a quick wash is still a good idea. Gently wash the figure in lukewarm water with a drop of mild dish soap, using a soft brush to remove any remaining residue. Rinse well and let it dry completely before priming.
What primer should I use on this resin figure?
The figure can be primed with:
- Halfords Grey Primer
- Tamiya Fine Surface Primer
- Simonez Grey Primer
How can I deal with minor surface imperfections before painting?
For small mould lines or print marks, use fine-grit sanding sticks or small files to gently smooth the area. Avoid heavy pressure so you do not remove detail. After sanding, lightly dust off the figure and re-wash if needed before priming.
What type of paints work best on this figure?
Once primed with a suitable grey primer, most hobby acrylic or enamel paints will adhere well to the resin. Use thin layers to keep the realistic scanned detail visible, and allow each coat to dry fully before adding the next.
Any tips for painting realistic clothing and wood on this figure?
For clothing, start with a mid-tone base coat, then add lighter highlights on raised folds and darker washes in the creases. For the axe handle and wooden elements, use a light brown base, then apply a darker brown wash and gently drybrush a lighter shade along the grain direction to bring out texture.
