FAQ – Product FAQs

What scale is this driver figure, and what layouts is it suitable for?

This driver figure is G-Scale 1:22.5 and is approximately 75 mm tall. It is suitable for G-scale layouts similar to LGB, Bachmann and other 1:22.5 garden railway stock, either in the cab as a driver or standing around in the yard.

Is the figure supplied painted or unpainted?

The figure is supplied unpainted. It comes as a bare high-detail resin print, ready for you to prime and paint in your own livery and style.

How are the poses and details created?

The figures are 3D scanned from real people, which gives them realistic proportions, facial features and natural-looking poses that fit in well with detailed model railway scenes.

Where is the model produced and how is it made?

The model is printed in the UK using high detail resin. Each piece is cleaned and cured by hand before packing, so it arrives ready for final finishing and painting.

How is the item packaged and shipped?

The figure is dispatched by Royal Mail 2nd Class. Packaging is eco-friendly: the outer packing is made in part from recycled materials and is fully recyclable, and the inner packing is acid-free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.

Is this figure suitable for children?

No. These items are not toys and are not suitable for minors. They contain small parts and can be a choking hazard, so they should be kept out of reach of children.

What should I do if the figure arrives damaged in the post?

If the figure arrives broken, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging and contact the seller. While breakages after delivery cannot be covered, damage caused during postage will be reviewed and the seller will see what can be done to put things right.

Can the figure break easily?

Resin can be quite delicate, especially around finer details. Try to avoid dropping or bending the figure. Once the item has arrived safely, the seller cannot be held responsible for accidental breakages during handling or use.

The figure looks slightly rough in places. Is that normal?

All items are cleaned and cured by hand, and some figures may need a little minor finishing before painting. Lightly sanding or scraping small imperfections is normal for resin models and helps achieve a smooth painted finish.

What if the figure does not fit perfectly in my cab or scene?

Because cabs and layouts vary between manufacturers, you may need to adjust the mounting point or slightly trim the base or feet of the figure. Test fit the figure first, then make small, careful adjustments until you are happy with the pose.

How should I handle the figure during finishing and painting?

Hold the figure by sturdier areas such as the legs or base rather than thin details. You can temporarily attach the feet to a painting stick or block with a small amount of removable adhesive to keep your fingers away from the finer parts while you work.

What primer should I use on this resin figure?

The figure can be primed with Halfords grey primer or Tamiya fine surface primer, both of which work well on this high detail resin. Apply several light coats rather than one heavy coat to preserve the fine detail.

What type of paint works best on this model?

Acrylic paints are recommended for this figure. They adhere well over the suggested primers, dry quickly and are ideal for layering and weathering on detailed resin miniatures.

Do I need to wash or clean the figure before priming?

The figures are cleaned and cured by hand before dispatch, so they are generally ready to prime. If you prefer, you can gently wipe the figure with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth to remove any dust before applying primer.

How can I prepare the figure for the smoothest paint finish?

Inspect the figure under good light and, if needed, lightly sand or scrape any small print marks or support nubs with fine abrasive tools. After that, apply your chosen primer in thin coats, letting each coat dry fully before the next.

Any tips for painting a realistic driver for G-scale?

Use thin layers of acrylic paint and build up colour gradually. For a realistic driver, you might consider:

  • Muted work clothing colours so the figure blends naturally into the cab or yard scene.
  • A slightly darker wash in creases and around details to bring out the 3D scanned features.
  • A final matt or satin varnish (compatible with acrylics) to protect your paintwork once fully dry.
