FAQ – Product FAQs

General Product FAQs

What exactly is included in this 7mm Country Bus Shelter kit?

The kit includes a 7mm scale country bus shelter, a separate bus flag and an O gauge figure. The example shown in photos is painted for reference only; the items you receive are supplied unpainted and ready for you to finish yourself.

What material is the bus shelter made from?

The shelter, bus flag and figure are all produced in high detail resin. Each piece is cleaned and cured by hand here in the UK before being packed for dispatch.

Is the model supplied painted?

No, the model is supplied unpainted. The painted shelter shown in any pictures is for illustration only, to give you an idea of how it can look once you have applied your own primer, paint and weathering.

What scale is this bus shelter suitable for?

This is a 7mm scale model and comes with an O gauge figure, making it suitable for O gauge layouts where you want to add a country bus stop scene.

Is this product suitable for children?

No, this item is not a toy and is not suitable for minors. It contains small parts that can be a choking hazard and the resin components are relatively delicate, so it is intended for adult modellers only.

How is the product packaged and shipped?

The model is shipped from stock by Royal Mail 2nd Class. Our packaging is eco friendly: the outer packaging is partly made from recycled materials and is fully recyclable, while the interior packing is acid free and made from 99% recycled pulp fibres.

Troubleshooting FAQs

My bus shelter arrived broken, what should I do?

If your shelter or any part of the kit appears to have been damaged in the post, please take clear photographs of the damage and the packaging as soon as possible. Contact us with these images and we will see what we can do to help put things right.

The resin parts seem very delicate, is this normal?

Yes, resin can be quite delicate, especially in finer details. Handle the parts carefully, avoid dropping them and support thinner sections when working on the model. We cannot be responsible for breakages once the item has arrived, so gentle handling is important.

Some small areas look slightly rough, can I tidy them up?

Yes, the pieces may require some minor finishing before painting. Lightly clean up any rough spots with fine abrasive tools, taking care not to remove detail. Work slowly and test-fit parts as you go.

The surface looks shiny in places, will primer still stick?

The models are cleaned and cured by hand, and in most cases primer will adhere well. If you notice any particularly shiny or smooth patches, you can very gently rub them with fine abrasive material before priming to help the primer key to the surface.

My primer finish is a bit grainy, what can I do?

Grainy primer is usually caused by spraying too far away or in poor conditions. Lightly sand back the rough areas with fine abrasive, then re-apply a thin, even coat of primer following the manufacturer’s instructions and spraying in suitable temperature and humidity.

Assembly & Painting FAQs

Does the kit require assembly?

The kit comes as separate pieces (shelter, bus flag and figure) and may need basic preparation and positioning on your layout. Any minor finishing should be done before painting so that the parts are ready to prime and place where you want them.

What primer should I use on the resin?

The resin takes standard hobby primers well. It can be primed with Halfords grey primer or Tamiya Fine Surface Primer, both of which give a good base for further painting. Always follow the instructions on the primer can and apply in light coats.

Do I need to wash the parts before priming?

The items are cleaned and cured by hand before dispatch, so further washing is usually not necessary. If you prefer, you can gently wipe the parts with a soft, lint-free cloth before priming to remove any dust picked up during handling.

How can I achieve a realistic finish on the shelter?

After priming, build up thin layers of your chosen colours, allowing each coat to dry fully. You can then add subtle weathering, such as dry-brushing or washes, to bring out the resin detail and help the shelter blend naturally into your countryside scene.

When should I paint the O gauge figure and bus flag?

It is usually easiest to prime and paint the figure and bus flag separately before fixing them into place on your layout. Prime them with the same recommended primers, apply your chosen colours in thin layers and only handle them by the base or a holding stick until fully dry.
