FAQ – Product FAQs

What exactly is included in this GN15 flat wagon kit?

The kit includes four grey resin-printed parts: one bogie frame, two coupling blocks, and one single blank wagon body. You can also choose to receive two optional 12.5 mm diameter wheelsets, or buy the kit without wheels if you already have suitable wheelsets.

Is this wagon designed specifically for GN15 layouts?

Yes, this flat wagon has been built with GN-15 operations in mind, so it will sit very naturally on GN15 layouts and work well alongside other stock in this scale and gauge.

Does the kit come assembled or ready-to-run?

The wagon is supplied unassembled. You receive separate resin parts and, if selected, wheelsets. This lets you assemble, prime, and paint the model to suit your own layout and style.

What colour are the parts when they arrive?

All resin pieces are supplied in grey. They are cleaned, cured, and have supports removed, but they are unprimed and unpainted so you can choose your own finish.

Can I buy the kit without wheels?

Yes, you can order the kit without the 12.5 mm wheelsets if you already have your own wheels that you prefer to use. There is also an option to include two sets of 12.5 mm diameter wheels with your order.

How durable are the resin parts?

The resin parts are suitable for normal model railway use but can be quite delicate, especially finer details. It is best to handle them carefully and avoid dropping them, as impacts can cause breakage.

My wagon arrived with some visible support marks. Is that normal?

All parts are cleaned and cured by hand and supports are removed before shipping. Some faint support marks may remain on the surface; this is normal for resin prints. A little fine sanding will usually smooth these out before priming.

The model arrived broken in the post. What should I do?

If your wagon or any of the parts arrive damaged from shipping, please take clear photos of the damage and packaging and get in touch. While breakages after delivery cannot be covered, postal damage will be reviewed and we will see what can be done to help.

The resin feels fragile. How should I handle it to avoid damage?

Handle the parts by the thicker sections rather than thin edges, and work over a soft surface such as a cutting mat or towel. Avoid dropping the parts and do not force pieces together; if something feels tight, gently sand rather than pushing hard.

My wagon does not roll smoothly. What can I check?

First, make sure the 12.5 mm wheels are seated properly in the bogie frame and that the axles are parallel. Check that no resin residue or paint is fouling the wheel treads or axle points. If necessary, lightly clean the bearing points and ensure the frame is not distorted.

The wheels seem tight in the bogie frame. How can I fix this?

If the wheels are binding, remove them and inspect the axle seating points. A very light clean-up with fine abrasive or a small file can help. Only remove a tiny amount at a time, testing the fit frequently so the wheels turn freely without wobble.

Parts do not seem to fit together perfectly. What should I do?

Resin printing can leave tiny ridges or slight variations. Test-fit all parts dry first. If something does not sit square, gently sand the mating surfaces until they fit snugly. Take your time and remove small amounts of material rather than forcing a tight joint.

My wagon sits unevenly on the track. How can I correct this?

Check that both wheelsets are fully seated and that the bogie frame is not twisted. You can gently warm and straighten very slight warps with careful hand pressure, but do not bend aggressively. Also ensure there is no debris under the wheels or on the track.

Some small details look slightly rough. Can I smooth them?

Yes, light sanding with fine-grit abrasive (for example 600–1000 grit) will usually refine rough areas. Work slowly and avoid over-sanding raised detail. Once smoothed, the surface will take primer and paint much more evenly.

Do I need to wash the parts before assembly and painting?

The parts are supplied cleaned and cured, so further washing is not strictly necessary. However, if you prefer, you can give them a gentle wash in lukewarm water with a tiny amount of mild detergent, then let them dry completely before priming.

What is the best way to prepare the wagon for painting?

After any light sanding, ensure the parts are dust-free and dry. Then apply a suitable primer for resin models in thin coats. Once the primer has fully cured, you can proceed with your chosen paints and weathering.

Can I paint the parts before assembling the wagon?

You can do either. Many modellers prefer to prime all parts separately, then paint major areas before final assembly so that hard-to-reach spots are covered. Small touch-ups and weathering can then be done once the wagon is fully assembled.

Do I need to prime the resin before painting?

Yes, priming is recommended. The kit is supplied unprimed, and a good primer helps paint adhere better, reveals any areas that may need extra sanding, and provides a consistent base colour over the grey resin.

What type of paints work well on this wagon?

The resin will accept most hobby paints once properly primed. Choose paints that are suitable for plastic and resin models, and apply them in thin layers to preserve the wagon’s detail and achieve a smooth finish.
