Product details

Here we have a G-scale Seaside mine used to collect funds for shipwrecked sailors. Perfect for  a quayside.  Great for GN-15 layouts as well of course. In addition there is a sea front telescope should you wish to place it overlooking a harbour for tourists.

The first items are shown painted for reference, this sale is for an unpainted item.

Your order will come with the following great pieces :

One Seaside mine (unpainted)
One Seafront telescope (unpainted)

This listing is for two resin printed pieces in grey, Fishmonger Donald and his mate with the telescope are not included they are just shown for size only.

Finishing: All items are cleaned and cured by hand. They are unassembled (if needed). Ready for you to prime and paint.

We do our very best to remove support marks but some fine sanding may be required.

All pieces and parts come unprimed and unpainted with all supports removed, figure not included as he has to work in the workshop.

Please do bear in mind that resin can be quite delicate so try to avoid dropping your parts! Sadly, we can't be held responsible for breakages once your item has arrived. However, if the piece is broken in the post, please provide images and we'll see what we can do to help.

FAQ – Product FAQs

Seaside Mine & Telescope – FAQ

What exactly is included in this set?

Your order includes two resin printed pieces in grey: one Seaside mine (unpainted) and one seafront telescope (unpainted). Any figures or other scenic items shown in photos are for size and scene illustration only and are not included.

What scale is this Seaside mine and telescope suitable for?

The pieces are designed for G-scale layouts and also work very nicely on GN-15 layouts, especially in quayside, harbour, or seafront scenes.

Are the items painted or ready-painted like in the photos?

The painted examples in the photos are for reference only, to show how the pieces can look on your layout. The items you receive will be unpainted grey resin, ready for you to prime and paint in your own style.

Are the pieces assembled when they arrive?

All items are supplied unassembled if needed. They arrive cleaned and cured, with supports removed, so you can go straight to any minor prep, priming, and painting.

Is this suitable for a quayside or harbour scene?

Yes, the Seaside mine is designed as a fund-collector for shipwrecked sailors and looks right at home on a quayside or seafront. The telescope is ideal for placing overlooking a harbour or promenade for tourists.

Are there any figures included, like the fishmonger shown?

No figures are included. Fishmonger Donald and his mate with the telescope are shown in the pictures purely for scale and scene ideas. The listing is only for the mine and the telescope.

My item arrived broken in the post, what should I do?

If your piece appears damaged from shipping, please take clear photos of the damage and the packaging and contact the seller. While breakages after safe delivery cannot be covered, they will do their best to help if the damage occurred in transit.

The resin feels delicate. How should I handle it?

Resin can be quite fragile, especially on thinner details, so handle the pieces carefully and avoid dropping them. When working on them, support parts close to where you’re sanding or painting rather than holding them by a thin edge.

I can still see some faint support marks. Is this normal?

Yes, although every effort is made to remove support marks during cleaning and curing, some very fine marks may remain. These can usually be smoothed out with gentle sanding before priming.

There is a slight surface texture in places. How can I improve the finish?

Minor surface texture is normal for resin prints. A light pass with fine sandpaper or sanding sticks, followed by a good quality primer, will usually give you a smooth, paint-ready surface.

One of the small details has snapped off while I was working on it. Can it be repaired?

Small resin parts can often be repaired using a suitable model glue or thin cyanoacrylate (super glue). Hold the parts together until the bond sets, then lightly sand any excess glue before repainting the repaired area.

Do I need to do any assembly before painting?

The pieces are supplied unassembled if needed, but many will be in just one or a few parts. Dry-fit any separate pieces first, then glue them with a suitable adhesive once you’re happy with the fit.

How should I prepare the resin before priming?

Check for any remaining support marks and gently sand them smooth. Make sure the parts are free of dust or sanding residue; a soft brush or a gentle rinse and thorough dry can help. Once clean and dry, they are ready to prime.

What kind of primer works best on these pieces?

Use a primer suitable for resin miniatures or model railway details. Both aerosol and brush-on primers designed for plastic or resin work well. Apply in thin, even coats to preserve the fine detail.

Any tips for painting the Seaside mine and telescope?

After priming, build up colour in thin layers. For the mine, you might use metal tones and weathering to suggest a well-used donation piece on the seafront. For the telescope, metallics with subtle weathering and a slightly brighter body colour work nicely to make it stand out for tourists.

Can I weather these pieces to match the rest of my layout?

Yes, they take weathering very well. Washes, drybrushing, and powders can all be used to add rust, salt staining, and general seaside wear so the mine and telescope blend naturally into your quayside or harbour scene.
