Product details

Enhance your model railway scenery with our G-scale brazier kit, perfect for adding a touch of realism to your workshop or industrial-themed layout. These finely crafted pieces are ideal for bringing your diorama to life, capturing the essence of a bustling workshop or yard environment. Perfect for GN-15 layouts too!

Included in this kit is a detailed resin-printed brazier, complete with two LED lights – an amber and a red flickering LED – providing a realistic simulated fire effect as well as a plastic chair, don't get too close to the fire though.  The LEDs are rated up to 12v, equipped with built-in resistors for easy integration. The kit also features a battery holder with a switch, allowing you to run it independently with a 9V battery (not included).

Your order includes:
1 x Brazier
1 x Amber flickering LED
1 x Red flickering LED
1 x 9V Battery holder with switch
1 x Plastic chair

Please note that the diorama setting is for inspiration only, and the kit is supplied unpainted. The resin-printed pieces come in grey and are meticulously cleaned and cured by hand. Although unassembled, they are ready for you to paint.

While we strive to eliminate support marks, some fine sanding may be required. Please keep in mind that resin is delicate, so handle with care to avoid breakages. We cannot be held responsible for any damage post-arrival, but if an item is broken during shipping, provide images, and we'll do our best to assist you. Elevate your model railway experience with our intricately crafted brazier kit!

FAQ – Product FAQs

G-Scale Brazier Kit – Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is included in the G-scale brazier kit?

The kit includes one resin-printed brazier, one amber flickering LED, one red flickering LED, one 9V battery holder with an on/off switch, and one plastic chair. The diorama scenery shown in photos is for inspiration only and is not included.

What scales or layouts is this brazier kit suitable for?

The kit is designed for G-scale layouts and also works very well on GN-15 layouts, especially in workshop, yard, or industrial-themed scenes.

Does the kit come pre-painted or pre-assembled?

No, the kit is supplied unpainted and unassembled. The resin parts arrive in grey, fully cleaned and cured, ready for you to assemble and paint to suit your layout.

Is a power supply or battery included with the kit?

No, a power source is not included. The kit comes with a 9V battery holder and switch, but you will need to supply your own 9V battery or connect the LEDs to your own layout power supply.

Are the LEDs ready to use on a model railway layout?

Yes. Both the amber and red flickering LEDs are rated up to 12V and have built-in resistors, making them straightforward to integrate with a 9V battery or a suitable 12V layout supply.

Can I use this kit outdoors or in a garden railway?

The parts are resin-printed and not specifically weatherproofed. For outdoor or garden use, you will need to provide additional protection (such as sealing and sheltering the electronics) to help them withstand the elements.

The LEDs do not light up when I connect the battery. What should I check first?

Start by confirming that the 9V battery is fresh and correctly connected to the holder, that the switch is turned on, and that the LED leads are securely connected with correct polarity. Also check for any loose or broken wires.

The flicker effect looks weak or uneven. Is something wrong?

A dim or inconsistent flicker is often due to a low battery or poor electrical contact. Try replacing the 9V battery, checking all connections, and ensuring no paint or glue is covering the LED lenses.

The LED worked at first but has stopped working. What could cause this?

Possible causes include a drained battery, a wire that has come loose, or damage to the LED leads during assembly. Inspect the wiring carefully and avoid pulling on the LED legs or bending them sharply.

The resin brazier arrived with slight marks or lines. Is this normal?

Yes. While the parts are carefully cleaned and cured, some minor support marks or layer lines are normal with resin printing. These can usually be removed with light sanding before painting.

What should I do if something is broken when it arrives?

If an item appears damaged on arrival, please take clear photos of the parts and packaging and contact the seller. They will review the images and do their best to assist. Damage that occurs after safe delivery is your responsibility.

How delicate are the resin parts, and how should I handle them?

Resin components are more brittle than plastic kits, so handle them gently, especially the finer details. Avoid dropping them or applying force when test-fitting or sanding.

How should I prepare the resin brazier before painting?

Lightly sand any visible support marks or rough areas, then remove dust with a soft brush or cloth. You can then apply a suitable primer designed for resin or plastic to give your paint a good surface to adhere to.

What type of paint works best on these resin parts?

Acrylic model paints or enamel paints both work well once the parts are primed. Many modellers prefer acrylics for ease of use and quick drying, especially when layering weathering effects.

Can I assemble and glue the parts before painting?

Yes. Many modellers prefer to assemble first, then prime and paint as a single piece, especially for the brazier and chair. Just keep the LEDs and wiring safe from glue and overspray, and avoid gluing the LEDs permanently in place until you are happy with the fit.

How can I achieve a realistic fire effect with paint and LEDs?

Use dark, sooty tones on the outside of the brazier and warmer colours (deep reds, oranges, and a little black) inside. Position the amber and red flickering LEDs so they are partially hidden, allowing the light to glow through gaps rather than shining directly into the viewer’s eyes.

Any tips for painting the plastic chair to match a workshop or yard scene?

Prime the chair, then paint it in muted or slightly worn colours such as faded green, brown, or off-white. Add gentle dry-brushing or weathering powders to suggest dirt, rust stains on metal parts, or paint chips for a well-used workshop look.
